Subject: Request 4 way stop Dawes and Coolidge

Mayor and Town Council,

I live at 1009 Dawes St in the Forest HIlls/Westwood neighborhood.

The multi student housing built by Mr Jaffee has increased the auto

traffic in the neighborhood in the past five years. The end of Dawes

St (a dead end st.) has had an increase of 12 cars this fall and an

additional house has been approved for the property. This will create

at lease four more cars.

I would like to request the town consider the intersection of Dawes

and Coolidge Street to be a four way stop intersection. This

intersection is a bus stop for the Chapel HIll School System in

addition to the normal weekday traffic. The uncontrolled growth of

trees shrubs and vines on Coolidge and Dawes require a driver to pull

into the intersection to determine if other vehicles are approaching.

The neighborhood does not have side walks and is within walking

distance of the University campus. We have many pedestrians using the

streets to go to work, class, walk for pleasure, walk with children

and strollers and dogs and the speeding traffic on Coolidge Street

creates a danger to the pedestrians also.

Thank you for considering this request.
