A RESOLUTION INVITING PROFESSIONAL STAFF AND ALL MEMBERS OF OUR CITIZEN ADVISORY BOARDS TO THE NEIGHBORHOODS FOR RESPONSIBLE GROWTH SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FORUM (2005-10-24/R-14)
WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill is dedicated to seeking out and supporting sustainable energy solutions which benefit our community; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill is involved in many energy and environmentally oriented efforts in ongoing programs such as Green Fleets, Orange County Baseline Carbon Emissions Survey, use of alternative fuels, participation UNC’s School of the Environment’s in CRed program, and is in the process of creating an Energy Bank;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chapel Hill Town Council will invite our professional staff and all members of our citizen advisory boards, (including OWASA, Millions Solar Roofs, T-Board, Planning Board, CDC, Bike and Pedestrian) to the Neighborhoods For Responsible Growth sustainable energy forum on January 19 as a public service and with the goal of furthering the public debate on the use of these technologies as a way to reduce carbon emissions and their burden on the local environment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chapel Hill Town Council requests that the Mayor's office make UNC Trustees and Administrators aware of NRG's Sustainability Forum and encourage them to participate.
