Chapel
Hill Transit 25th Anniversary Review Committee
SUBJECT: Final
Report
DATE: January

The Chapel Hill Transit 25th Anniversary
Review Committee is pleased to submit its Final Report for the Council’s
consideration. The Committee believes that it has fulfilled the Council’s
charge to review the performance of the Chapel Hill Transit system and
determine how well the transit system has served the community. The Committee
has also developed and submitted for Council adoption a Mission Statement for
Chapel Hill Transit. This Mission Statement was adopted on June 28, 1999, by
the Town Council and used by the Committee in its review of the transit system.
The Committee believes that the community has been
well served by the Chapel Hill Transit system over the past 25 years. In that
time the Chapel Hill Transit system has offered residents of the area an
efficient and convenient transportation alternative and has been recognized as
one of the premier transit systems in the nation.
We believe that the Strengths, Weakness,
Opportunities and Threats Analysis has identified short term and long term
challenges for the transit system. The Committee has developed a set of recommendations
designed to help Chapel Hill Transit meet those challenges and continue to
provide the community with convenient and efficient transit service in the
future.
