SUBJECT:       Appointments to the Orange Water and Sewer Authority Board of Directors

DATE:             June 26, 2000

Tonight, the Council may make appointments to two seats (vacant as of June 30, 2000) on the Orange Water and Sewer Authority Board of Directors.

A recommendation from the Council’s OWASA Committee is attached.

The Council’s Procedures Manual states, in part:

         “…The Council may reappoint an individual to a board or commission for an additional one-year term following two consecutive terms, by resolution for the purpose of completing ongoing projects.”

If the Council chooses to extend the term of Pat Davis for an additional year, adoption of the attached resolution would do so.

Copies of the applications and ballots are attached.

NOTE:  Dorothy Verkerk was recently appointed to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board.  If the Council appoints Ms. Verkerk to the OWASA Board, she has indicated she would accept the appointment and resign from the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, resulting in an additional vacancy on that Board.

A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE TERM OF PAT DAVIS ON THE ORANGE WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR ONE ADDITIONAL YEAR (2000-06-26/R-17)

BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council hereby extends for one year the term of Pat Davis on the Orange Water and Sewer Authority Board of Directors, with an expiration date of June 30, 2001.
