SUBJECT:       Parking Restrictions on Pinehurst Drive

DATE:             August 28, 2000

Adoption of the attached ordinance would restrict parking on Pinehurst Drive in the vicinity of traffic management devices.  Please see the attached map.

BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION

As part of the settlement between the developer of Meadowmont and The Oaks II Homeowners Association, several traffic management devices are being installed by the Oaks II Homeowners Association on Pinehurst Drive south of Ephesus Church Road.

Parking along both sides of Pinehurst Drive must be prohibited adjacent to the traffic management devices to maintain a single travel lane in each direction.

The traffic management devices are now being installed on Pinehurst Drive in accordance with the approved plans, and it is time to prohibit on-street parking in the vicinity of the devices.

MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION

That the Council adopt the attached ordinance restricting parking on Pinehurst Drive in the vicinity of traffic management devices.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21-27 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES REGARDING NO PARKING AS TO PARTICULAR STREETS (2000-08-28/O-2)

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill as follows:

Section 1.  Section 21-27 of the Town Code “No parking as to particular streets.” is hereby amended by inserting the following therein, in appropriate alphabetical order:
