MEMORANDUM

TO:                  Town Council

FROM:            Rosemary I. Waldorf, Mayor

SUBJECT:        Designation of Delegate and Alternate Delegate to the NC League of Municipalities’ Annual Meeting in October and the                            National League of Cities Congress of Cities Meeting in December

DATE:            September 25, 2000

The N. C. League of Municipalities’ annual meeting this year will be in Fayetteville from October 15th through the 17th.

As in past years, Council will need to formally designate a delegate.  We would normally designate one or more alternates, but at this time no other members of the Council have notified the Town Clerk that they plan to attend.  The League has requested that the Town notify the League of our delegate’s name by Monday, October 9th (see Attachment 1).

The National League of Cities’ annual Congress of Cities meeting will be in Boston, Massachusetts December 5th through the 9th.

We are asked to designate a voting delegate and one alternate delegate for this meeting.  The League of Cities has requested that the Town notify them no later than October 13th of our delegates’ names (see Attachment 2).

The following resolution would designate delegates and alternates to these two meetings.
