AGENDA #4c
TO: Mayor and Town Council
FROM: W. Calvin Horton, Town Manager
SUBJECT: Recommended Revision to Position Classification and Pay Plan Ordinance Authorizing Change to Positions in the Construction Section of the Field Operations Division in the Public Works Department
DATE: September 25, 2000
The recommended amendment to the Position Classification and Pay Plan Ordinance would authorize a transfer of one of ten authorized Construction Worker positions to a Construction Crew Supervisor position, to correct an error in the October 20th pay plan.
When the Classification and Pay Plan Ordinance to be effective October 20, 2000, was adopted, the Construction section of the Field Operations Division of the Public Works Department included ten Construction Worker positions at salary grades 25-30 and one Construction Crew Supervisor position at salary grade 33. We recommend that these numbers be changed to transfer one of the Construction Worker positions to a Construction Crew Supervisor position, as originally intended.
This correction will enable us to have increased field supervision and accountability over the two work crews as we do now. The limited additional salary costs can be paid within the current division budget.
That the Council approve the attached ordinance, effective October 20, 2000.
