SUBJECT:            Budget Ordinance Amendment - Walk Our Children to School Day

The attached budget ordinance would appropriate $500 from the Council's Contingency Fund to publicize the “Walk Our Children to School Day” event in local newspapers and to copy informational flyers.

On September 11^th, the Town Council proclaimed October 4, 2000 as "Walk Our Children to School Day" and adopted a resolution authorizing a maximum of $500 to publicize the event in local newspapers and for copying informational flyers.

RECOMMENDATION

We recommend that the Council adopt the attached ordinance to amend the budget to provide funds in the amount of $500 from the Council's Contingency Fund to publicize the “Walk Our Children to School Day” event.

APPROPRIATIONS AND THE RAISING OF REVENUE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 2000 (2000-10-11/O-2)

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Budget Ordinance entitled “An Ordinance Concerning Appropriations and the Raising of Revenue for the Fiscal Year Beginning July 1, 2000” as duly adopted on June 26, 2000, be and the same is hereby amended as follows:
