SUBJECT: Temporary/Contract Positions in Manager’s Recommended Budget

A Council Member requested information on the comparison of hours for temporary/temporary positions in the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 budgets. Attached are two charts with information on these positions:
· A chart that provides details on hours worked and the full-time equivalent on temporary/contract positions that function year-round, such as .
- relief parking lot attendants
- desk attendants, lifeguards and pool managers in Parks and Recreation
- library pages and library aides
- relief crisis counselors
- security monitors (if they work most of the year)
Not included in this listing are jobs which that are not year-round ones, such as seasonal interns, 9-month/school year positions, summer positions, special project jobs, or positions like class instructors or game officials that might be in effect most of the year but would alternate seasons of work with seasons where no work is performed.
· A chart listing the requested dollars for temporary positions – both year-round and seasonal – in each of the Town’s departmental budgets.
