As you know, discussions are ongoing with University officials about plans for new facilities on the main campus of UNC. On Monday night the Council will open a public hearing on a proposal to create a new zoning district, and an accompanying proposal to apply that new zoning district to the main campus.
One feature of the new zoning district is a provision for submittal and Council consideration of a Development Plan. We expect that, if the Council creates and applies this new zoning district, that the University would shortly thereafter submit an application for a Development Plan.
The University is well along in its work on this plan, and has sent us preliminary information so that we can understand the scope of what likely will be included in the Development Plan that is to be submitted in July. We have received the following materials, and attach them here:
· A letter from Chancellor Moeser, indicating the probable scale of what likely will be proposed in the Development Plan; and
· A site plan of the southern portion of the main campus, indicating the locations of new buildings that likely will be proposed in the Development Plan.
More detail, of course, will be available when a Development Plan is submitted.
