SUBJECT:       Appointment to the Orange County Economic Development Commission

 

DATE:             August 27, 2001

 

We have been notified by the Orange County Clerk that currently the Chapel Hill seat on the Orange County Economic Development Commission (EDC) is vacant.  Ms. Dianne Reid, Director of the EDC, has asked that the Council fill this vacancy.

 

The EDC has two long-term goals:

 

1)                  To substantially increase the number of residents who have jobs that pay a living wage; and

2)                  To create a larger and stronger non-residential tax base.

 

Copies of the applications submitted to the County Clerk and ballots are attached.
