NOTE:  These totals do not include the landfill and recycling programs;  through 1995 these programs were a division of Public Works but were funded through a separate fund instead of the General Fund.  In 2000 these positions were transferred to Orange County .  See Town summary chart for the Landfill and Recycling positions.
* In this chart, where possible, positions in earlier years are shown in the program in which they currently work.     There have been several reorganizations in the last 20 years in the Public Works Department; in these reorganizations programs have been combined into different units at different times.  Positions performing various streets, traffic, drainage system management, and construction work were in separate divisions or programs that were combined into the Field Operations Division in 1992. Positions doing grounds maintenance and building maintenance worked in the General Services Division in early years. And when the Parks Division was combined with Public Works positions in  1995, the Landscape Division was created.
