AGENDA #4a
TO: Mayor and Town Council
FROM: W. Calvin Horton, Town Manager
SUBJECT: Budget Ordinance to Distribute Salary Reserves
DATE:
At the time the current year’s budget was adopted, the Council had not made final decisions on compensation adjustments. Therefore, funding for salary increases was held in salary reserve accounts in each of the relevant funds. The Council approved compensation adjustments on July 2, 200l.
The attached budget ordinance would distribute $640,000 from the Non-departmental salary reserve account in the General Fund to the appropriate accounts in the General Fund departments based on the final decisions made by the Council on July 2. Since the budget for the other affected funds (Transportation, Housing and Parking) are adopted on a total funds basis, a budget ordinance change is not necessary to distribute the salary reserves in those funds to the appropriate salary and benefit accounts.
RECOMMENDATION
That the Council adopt the attached budget ordinance.
