SUBJECT:        Appointment of Two Community Representatives to the University Arts Common Committee

 

DATE:             January 14, 2002

 

 

Tonight, the Council may make appointments to two seats on the University Arts Common Committee.

 

On October 29, 2001, the Council received a letter from Chancellor James Moeser (Attachment 1) inviting the Town to appoint two community representatives to this Committee.

 

On November 26, 2001, the Council adopted a resolution authorizing an advertisement, application, and appointment process for the Council to name two community representatives to assist the University in planning and programming of the new Arts Common on campus (Attachment 2).  The Common, which is an area between Franklin Street and Cameron Avenue, will be the potential expansion site of the Ackland Art Museum and new facilities for Music and Communications Studies, and underground parking.

 

Copies of the applications and ballots are attached.
