SUBJECT: Overview of Three Related Agenda Items
DATE: January 28, 2002
Tonight’s agenda includes
consideration of three related issues, each with its own memorandum discussing
key points. Following are three memoranda, indicated as items a, b, and c:
- Item A: Report on
Development Ordinance Revisions. On January 14 the Council discussed
the ongoing initiative to revise Chapel Hill’s Development Ordinance. The
Council asked the Town Manager to return with suggestions for a series of
work sessions and meetings to further review the 2nd Draft of
the proposed new ordinance.
- Item B: Review of
Previously-distributed Moratoria Information. Also on January 14, the
Council asked the Town Attorney to assemble and re-distribute information
describing how moratoria on development proposals can be structured and
instituted.
- Item C: Response to
Issues and Questions Raised at 1/23 Work Session. On January 23, the
Council conducted a Work Session on the Northeast Area of Chapel Hill.
That discussion broadened to include issues of Town wide concern and
discussion of the schedule for adoption of new development regulations.
At the conclusion of the Work Session, the Council asked the Manager and
Attorney to prepare follow-up reports on questions and issues raised, to
be considered by the Council tonight.
Items A and B are included in the
regular agenda packet, which is being distributed on Thursday, January 24. Given
the limited time available for follow-up to the January 23 Work Session, Item C
will be distributed on Friday, January 25.
