BUDGET WORKING PAPER
TO: W. Calvin Horton, Town Manager
FROM: Roger S. Waldon, Planning Director
SUBJECT: Question Regarding Meadowmont Traffic Calming
DATE: April 24, 2002
At the April 3 Budget Work Session, a Council member asked a specific questions about traffic calming associated with the Meadowmont Development. Here is the answer.
1. What happened to the $75,000 provided by the Meadowmont developer for traffic calming ?
Following Town Council approval of the Meadowmont Infrastructure Special Use Permit in June, 1997, the developer, Roger Perry, reported on his $75,000 offering for traffic calming. At that time, the Oaks neighborhood had declined the offer for traffic calming measures on Pinehurst Drive. However, the Council adopted a motion accepting Mr. Perry’s $75,000 gift. Subsequently the neighborhood indicated an interest in the traffic calming measures and approximately $80,000 was provided by the developer for the Pinehurst Drive traffic calming measures.
