SUBJECT:       Appointment to the Greenways Commission

DATE:             May 29, 2002

The Greenways Commission has 2 vacancies, effective June 30, 2002.  In addition to a recommendation for one vacant seat, the Commission has requested (see attached) that Joe Herzenberg’s term be extended for one year in order to complete ongoing projects.  Mr. Herzenberg is currently serving his second term.

The Council’s Procedures Manual states, in part:

“…The Council may reappoint an individual to a board or commission for an additional one-year term following two consecutive terms, by resolution for the purpose of completing ongoing projects.”

If the Council chooses to extend the term of Joe Herzenberg for an additional year, adoption of the attached resolution would do so.

If the Council chooses to appoint an applicant to fill the other vacancy, a ballot is attached.

A recommendation from the Greenways Commission for the second vacancy is attached.
