SUBJECT:        Appointment of a Committee to Consider a Charge to Combine the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, the Transportation Board, and Possibly the Greenways Commission

The Council on April 8, 2002, adopted the following goal:

 

(36)  Consider combining the Transportation Board and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, or modifying the charges of these boards (and perhaps the Greenways Commission) so that there is less overlap in their assigned duties.

 

We recommend that the Council appoint a committee composed of two or more Council members and two members from each of the respective boards to develop a proposal for revised charges for each of these boards.

 

Adoption of the attached resolution would do so.

A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A COMMITTEE TO DEVELOP A PROPOSAL TO CONSIDER REVISED CHARGES FOR THE TRANSPORTATION BOARD, THE BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY BOARD, AND THE GREENWAYS COMMISSION (2002-06-10/R-12)

 

WHEREAS, the Council on April 8, 2002, adopted a goal to consider combining the Transportation Board and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, and perhaps the Greenways Commission so that there is less overlap in their assigned duties;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council hereby appoints Council Members ____________________ and ___________________ to represent the Council on this committee.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Transportation Board, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board, and the Greenways Commission are requested to appoint two members each to serve with the Council members on this committee.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon completion of the committee’s work, the committee will report back to the Council with a proposal for revised charges for these boards.
