A PROCLAMATION EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO WCHL RADIO FOR COVERAGE DURING DECEMBER 2002 ICE STORM RECOVERY
WHEREAS, the severe ice storm of December 4-5 downed trees and power lines, leaving thousands of Chapel Hill residents without electrical service and other essential services; and
WHEREAS, WCHL Radio staff provided consistent and reliable information to the public during the ice storm recovery process; and
WHEREAS, most local residents were without electrical service or cable television for days during and after the storm; and
WHEREAS, listeners relied on WCHL to provide information about shelters, bus schedules, road conditions, and electrical service; and
WHEREAS, the work of WCHL staff enabled Town officials and many other leaders to communicate with the public during this time of crisis;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kevin C. Foy, Mayor of the Town of Chapel Hill, along with the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill, hereby thanks WCHL Radio’s staff for their coverage during the December 2002 Ice Storm and recovery process. The Council would like to thank these individuals for their contribution to WCHL:
