UNFUNDED PROJECTS

 

Following are unfunded project requests (please see Table 4).

 

·        Multimodal Transportation Center (Transfer Facility). Project estimated at $8.7 million would provide transit transfer facility at a central location.

 

·        Expand Police Headquarters Building. Estimated $5 million project would redesign and expand current facilities.

 

·        Police Training Complex. Project costing approximately $670,000 would acquire land for and construct training facilities.

 

·        Fire Classroom at Training Grounds/Bleachers. Acquisition of a portable classroom would provide a facility for instruction and intense training near the training facility at Fire Station # 4; could be used for other Town purposes as well.

 

·        Fire Stations Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4: Sprinkler Retrofit. This project would start with retrofitting Fire Station #1 with a fire sprinkler system. Installations at Stations #2, #3, and #4 would be completed over an eight year period.

 

·        Downtown Streetscape – Improvements. Project request of $500,000 every three years would continue downtown streetscape improvements after remaining bond funds are spent.

 

·        Entranceway Corridors. Projects would implement landscaping improvements consistent with the Master Plan for Entranceway Corridors adopted by the Town Council in 1988.

 

·        Fiber Optic Network Project. This project, estimated at $600,000, seeks to install fiber optic communications cable that will provide wide area networking services for the Town. Project timing would coincide with the planned traffic signal system upgrade project.

 

·        800 Mhz Radio (Town-Wide). Project, estimated to cost $5 million, would replace current communication system with 800 Mhz Radio, serving all Town and County emergency units.

 

·        Downtown Camera Monitoring System. Project would install three video cameras capable of monitoring Franklin Street from Henderson to Mallette Streets.

 

·        Ballfield and Tennis Court Light Replacement. This project would replace wooden light poles and old fixtures with concrete poles and modern energy efficient light fixtures at Culbreth, Hargraves, Cedar Falls, Oakwood, and Ephesus parks.

 

·        Dry Creek Greenway Trail. Phase II of the Dry Creek Trail would allow the extension of the trail from Perry Creek Road to Erwin Road and would involve a bridge and 1,500 -2,000 lf of improved trail.
