MINUTES OF A CLOSED SESSION OF THE

CHAPEL HILL TOWN COUNCIL

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2003, AT 3:00 P.M.

Mayor Kevin Foy called the Closed Session to order at 3:05 pm

Council members present were Flicka Bateman, Pat Evans, Ed Harrison, Mark Kleinschmidt, Dorothy Verkerk, and Edith Wiggins

Council Members Jim Ward and Bill Strom were absent, excused.

Staff members attending were Town Manager Cal Horton and Town Attorney Ralph Karpinos.

COUNCIL MEMBER KLEINSCHMIDT MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER VERKERK, AS FOLLOWS:

 “I move that the Council go into closed session this evening, as authorized by North Carolina General Statute Section 143-318.11(a)(6) to conduct performance evaluations of the Town Manager and Town Attorney.”

THE MOTION WAS ADOPTED UNANIMOUSLY (7-0).

The Mayor and Council met individually and privately with the Manager and Attorney, without either present, to discuss past performance, future work, and compensation adjustments.

Mr. Karpinos left the meeting at 3:08.

The Council by consensus concluded the Closed Session and adjourned the meeting at 6:10 p.m.
