A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT PREVENTION PROGRAM GRANT (2005-10-24/R-3)
WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security via the N.C. Governor’s Crime Commission has made funds available to enhance the quality of emergency service responder communications; and
WHEREAS, the Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program Grant application in the amount of $262,500.00 was approved by the N.C. Governor’s Crime Commission; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to purchase radios and an antenna system compatible with the county and state VIPER Systems; and
WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Agreement has been established and authorized for the disbursement of funds between the Town of Chapel Hill and the State of North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, the funds would be used to improve the police department’s capability for interoperable communications;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Manager to accept the N.C. Governor’s Crime Commission Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program Grant and to make all the necessary assurances.
