A RESOLUTION CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED CLOSURE OF A SECTION OF HIGHLAND WOODS ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY (2005-11-21/R-12)

WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill has received a petition for relocation of Highland Woods Road; and

WHEREAS, the Highland Woods neighborhood supports the relocation of Highland Woods Road; and

WHEREAS, the Council, on May 24, 2004 approved a conceptual plan for relocation of Highland Woods Road; and

WHEREAS, the Council received funds from the State for construction of the relocation of said project and a municipal agreement is signed between the State and the Town; and

WHEREAS, the Town received a letter from the University of North Carolina agreeing to dedicate the right-of-way required for the relocation of Highland Woods Road;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council hereby declares its intent to consider closing approximately 165 feet of the Highland Woods right-of-way as shown on Orange County Tax Map 7.66.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council calls a Public Hearing at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 in the Council Chamber at Town Hall, 405 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Chapel Hill, North Carolina to receive public comment on the proposed closing of said right-of-way.
