A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO DESIGN AND INSTALL A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, WITH PEDESTRIAN AMENTIES, AT THE INTERSECTION OF MEADOWMONT LANE WITH SPRUNT STREET/CEDAR CLUB CIRCLE (2005-11-21/R-16)
WHEREAS, on January 10, 2005, the Council received a petition from the residents of The Cedars at Chapel Hill requesting the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Meadowmont Lane with Sprunt Street/Cedar Club Circle; and
WHEREAS, on November 21, 2005, the Council received a report from the Town Manager recommending installation of a traffic signal at the subject intersection upon completion of development of The Cedars at Chapel Hill Community and provided that the cost of said traffic signal would be the responsibility of The Cedars at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, Town staff determined that a traffic signal would be warranted at this intersection based on projected peak hour traffic volume at this intersection; and
WHEREAS, The Cedars at Chapel Hill has agreed to pay for the design and construction of the requested traffic signal;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Town Manager to accept $50,000 offered by the Cedars of Chapel Hill Retirement Community for the design and installation of the requested traffic signal with pedestrian amenities; and use Town funds for the remaining costs.
