A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING EASEMENTS FROM THE BOARD OF THE CHAPEL HILL/CARRBORO CITY SCHOOLS FOR PROJECTS AT MEADOWMONT PARK AND SOUTHERN COMMUNITY PARK (2005-11-21/R-6)
WHEREAS, on July 3, 1997, the Town Council approved a Special Use Permit for Meadowmont Park that included a picnic shelter near the existing pond; and
WHEREAS, on May 9, 2005, the Council approved the Special Use Permit application for the Southern Community Park, which included a connection from the park’s main greenway trail to a similar trail on the Scroggs School property; and
WHEREAS, the Southern Community Park trail connection project cannot be completed without an easement from the Chapel Hill/Carrboro City School Board; and
WHEREAS, the Meadowmont Picnic Shelter project cannot be completed in a logical and efficient manner without an easement from the Chapel Hill/Carrboro City School Board; and
WHEREAS, on November 3, 2005, the Chapel Hill/Carrboro City School Board agreed to grant easements at the Scroggs and Rashkis school sites for the two Town projects;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council accepts from the Chapel Hill/Carrboro City School Board two permanent easements of about 600 square feet each at Rashkis and Scroggs Schools for Town Parks and Recreation projects and to authorize the Manager to accept the easements on behalf of the Town, subject to their approval as to form and legality.
