A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO APPLY FOR DESIGNATION AS A FIT COMMINITY AND FOR GRANT FUNDING (2006-01-23/R-6)

WHEREAS, The North Carolina Fit Together program, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and the North Carolina Health Wellness Trust Fund has announced the Fit Communities initiative; and

WHEREAS, The Town of Chapel Hill is committed to promoting healthy lifestyle and a more active community; and

WHEREAS, the Town has received funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through the Active Living by Design program; and

WHEREAS, the Active Living by Design Advisory Committee and Town Staff have begun implementation of a program intended to encourage greater activity among the residents of Chapel Hill;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is authorized to apply for designation as a Fit Community and to apply for associated grant funds.
