A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF STAMPED ASPHALT TEXTURED PAVEMENT TREATMENT ON SPEED TABLES (2006-02-27/R-9)

WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill is concerned about vehicular and non-vehicular safety and mobility on Town streets; and

WHEREAS, the Council approved several traffic calming measures at its January 9, 2006 meeting as recommended by the Manager; and

WHEREAS, the Council received petitions from the Oaks II and Silver Creek neighborhoods requesting the installation of textured pavement on speed tables;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Manager to allow the installation of stamped asphalt textured pavement treatment on speed tables, subject to the following conditions:

1) Installation cost of the stamped asphalt must be paid for by the requesting neighborhood or associated homeowners association.

2) The neighborhood or the homeowners’ association must agree in writing to pay for all future costs associated with the repair, replacement and/or maintenance of the stamped asphalt.
