A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION DELAY ACTION ON ANY PROPOSAL TO REVISE THE CURRENT POLICY REGULATING TREE CUTTING ALONG HIGHWAY RIGHT OF WAY (2006-05-22/R-6.1)

 

WHEREAS, Chapel Hill has recently become aware of a proposed modification to the existing policy regulating the cutting of trees in the public right of way for highways; and

 

WHEREAS, Chapel Hill is concerned about the potential impact of expanding the area of trees allowed to be cut in front of bill boards; and

 

WHEREAS, the Town has not had an opportunity to review the proposed change in policy and provide comments to the Board of Transportation.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council requests the North Carolina Board of Transportation delay taking any action on modifying the regulation of tree cutting in the public right of way of highways and provide local governments and the public opportunity to provide comments.
