A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH WALLACE ROBERTS & TODD, LLC, OR, IF NEGOTIATIONS WITH WALLACE ROBERTS & TODD ARE UNSUCCESSFUL, WITH CORLEY REDFOOT ZACK, FOR PRELIMINARY PLANNING AND DESIGN SERVICES FOR THE LIBRARY EXPANSION PROJECT AND PRITCHARD PARK IMPROVEMENTS (2006-06-12/R-4)

 

WHEREAS, the Council has charged the Library Building Committee with conducting a search and recommending a design firm for the Library Expansion Project and Pritchard Park Improvement; and

 

WHEREAS, the Library Building Committee, following the issuance of a Request For Proposals and design firm interviews, has recommended the firm of Wallace Roberts & Todd, LLC as the first ranked firm; and

 

WHEREAS, the Library Building Committee has identified Corley Redfoot Zack as the second ranked firm; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council has authorized the issuance of $16.3 million in bonds to fund the design and construction of the Library Expansion project;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Town Manager is authorized, consistent with terms and a price deemed fair and reasonable, to execute a contract with Wallace Roberts & Todd (or Corley Redfoot Zack if negotiations with Wallace Roberts & Todd are unsuccessful) for complete design services including a site analysis, needs assessment, conceptual site plan and preliminary cost estimate for the expansion of the library and improvements to Pritchard Park.
