A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE TRANSIT STUDY COMMITTEE TO SELECT A CONSULTANT AND OVERSEE THE PREPARATION OF THE LONG RANGE TRANSIT PLAN (2006-09-11/R-15a)

 

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill believes the preparation of a Long Range Transit Plan is important to guide the future development of the Chapel Hill Transit system; and

 

WHEREAS, the Long Range Transit Plan should evaluate the future mobility needs within major transportation corridors; and

 

WHEREAS, the participation of the Town of Carrboro and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the preparation of the Long Range Transit Plan is important; and

 

WHEREAS, the Town has solicited proposals to complete the Long Range Transit Plan; and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed scope of work and request for qualifications includes the establishment of a Transit Study Committee to select a consultant and oversee preparation of the Plan;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill, that the Town establishes the Transit Study Committee, to be composed of up to four (4) representatives each from Chapel Hill, Carrboro and the University of North Carolina.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for purposes of voting within the Committee the University representatives will have one (1) vote and the combined Chapel Hill and Carrboro representatives will have one (1) undividable vote.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in order for the Committee to approve any action, two (2) votes in the affirmative are required.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of Chapel Hill shall serve as chair of the Committee.
