SUBJECT: Budget Amendment for Funding and Contracting with Outside Facilitators for Town Manager Recruitment Process

PURPOSE
The attached ordinance would amend the Budget Ordinance to provide $35,000 funding in order to contract with outside facilitators to assist in the recruitment process for the Town Manager. The attached resolution would authorize the Mayor to execute a contract with Anita Badrock and Tim Dempsey for recruitment services related to the hiring of a new Town Manager.
The Town Manager has announced his retirement to be effective September 1, 2006. The Town Council has formed a search committee comprised of the Mayor and three members of the Council to conduct a search for the next Town Manager. The Committee proposes to engage the services of outside facilitators to assist them in this work. The attached resolution would authorize a contract with outside facilitators to assist in this work. The attached ordinance would approve the appropriate budget transfer and provide funds for this purpose.
I recommend that the Council enact the attached ordinance that would amend the Budget Ordinance for the purpose of funding the work of outside facilitators related to the recruitment and selection process for the next Town Manager and adopt the attached resolution to authorize a contract for recruitment services.
