Title of Agenda Item: Approval of Resolution Supporting Improvements to South Columbia Street between Cameron Avenue and Franklin Street
Background: The attached memorandum includes background information regarding several improvements to South Columbia Street between Cameron Avenue and Franklin Street. N.C. Department of Transportation proposed to make several roadway improvements that enhance safety and improve traffic flow on South Columbia Street and requested that the Council review and support the project.
Staff Recommendation(s): That the Council adopt the attached resolution supporting the following improvements on South Columbia Street between Cameron Avenue and Franklin Street:
- Mill and resurface the street
- Replace the existing curb and gutter
- Reconstruct several driveways including the driveway at Frat Court and
- Relocate the existing traffic signal and pedestrian crosswalk
