Acceptance of a Grant for the Parks and Recreation Department Football Program |
DATE: |
March 9, 2009 |
Adoption of the attached resolution would accept a grant of $2,000 from the National Recreation and Park Association and USA Football. The attached budget ordinance would increase the Parks and Recreation Department’s Athletic program budget in the amount of $2,000.
Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation’s youth football program began in 2005. Our program has grown to 4 teams with about 100 players aged 5-12. Teams play in the Central Piedmont Football League, which includes teams from Carrboro, Orange County and Siler City Parks and Recreation Departments as well as some private organizations in Durham, Chatham County and others.
The $2,000 grant from the National Recreation and Park Association and USA Football would be used to support the Town’s youth football program for 2009. We would use funds for equipment, uniforms, field items, field maintenance, staff/referee fees, and safety/first aid supplies.
That the Council adopt the attached resolution, which would accept a grant of $2,000 from the National Recreation and Park Association and USA Football. If the Council accepts the grant we recommend that the Council enact the attached budget ordinance, which would increase the Parks and Recreation Department’s Athletic program budget in the amount of $2,000.
