EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Meeting Date: 1/25/2010
AGENDA #5b

Title of Agenda Item: Donation of Conservation Easement Along Cole Spring Branch. (R-2)

Council Goal 4: Maintain and Improve Community Facilities and Services.

Background: Adoption of the attached resolution would accept a donation of a conservation easement over an 8.36 acre tract of land adjacent to Cole Spring Branch, which is a tributary of Bolin Creek. The resolution would also express the Town’s gratitude to the Triangle Land Conservancy for its technical assistance.

Fiscal Note: We do not expect to incur any significant costs related to stewardship of the easement. There may be some costs associated with improvement of the existing informal trail at some time in the future.

Recommendations: That the Council adopt the attached resolution, which would accept a donation of a conservation easement over an 8.36 acre tract of land identified in Orange County Land Records as Tax Map #7.35.C.1B.
