SUBJECT: Response to Citizen Petition: Participation in Sustainable Energy Forum.

This memorandum responds to a citizen request for the Town to participate in a Sustainable Energy Forum scheduled for January 19, 2006 in Chapel Hill.
On October 10, 2005, a citizen submitted a petition to the Council requesting that the Town participate in a Sustainable Energy Forum (Attachment 1). On October 24, 2005, the Council adopted a resolution inviting professional staff and Town advisory boards to attend. The resolution also requested that that the Mayor send a letter to the University of North Carolina Trustees and administration, notifying them of the Forum and inviting them to attend (Attachment 2).
DISCUSSION
We will prepare materials for distribution to Town advisory boards notifying them of the January 19, 2005 Sustainable Energy Forum. We have prepared a letter from the Mayor to the University of North Carolina Trustees and administration, inviting them to attend the Forum.
